CURBSIDE
We are fortunate in West Vancouver to have a number of annual events, such as the Harmony Arts Festival and Community Day, which bring us together to celebrate our dynamic and creative community. I would like to share with you an idea that I hope will foster this same sense of community all year round. We have a number of bus stops in West Vancouver, which have recently changed our everyday landscape and are now a part of daily routines. I hope that together we can turn these advertizing spaces into canvases for local artists. Curbside will make its pilot run during the 2012 Harmony Arts Festival, displaying artwork by Ross Penhall and Corey Creed among other local artists. My hope is that Curbside will soon provide space for students, emerging artists, and local groups to engage directly with the community and to enhance the beauty and public value of our communal urban environment.
